Using Sailseer in Claude and ChatGPT

What can Sailseer do in the chat?

In the chat Sailseer calculates the same as on sailseer.com, with the same data: nine weather models in consensus, official warnings, about 8,900 harbours and the route network over real water depths.

• Search harbours by name, area or position, with depth, guest berths, VHF channel and services
• Harbour details with a draft check, anchorages and nearby harbours
• Routes by water with distance, passage time, bridges and locks with opening times, restricted areas and border crossings, as a map and as GPX for the plotter
• Passage rating from 0 to 100 with the reasons: every deduction with its points and leg, wind, gusts, waves, tacking, current and official warnings, plus the alternatives: better departures with the difference in points, other routes and bail-out harbours
• Sailing conditions: whether a day sail around a harbour is worth it, rated for each part of the day
• 10-day outlook, tides with high and low water, multi-day cruises with daily legs and the entry rules of about 120 countries and territories

How do I connect Sailseer to Claude?

In Claude, open the connectors in the settings, search the directory for Sailseer and connect it. Claude also suggests Sailseer by itself when a question about passage planning fits. Without a directory entry, use "Add custom connector" with the address https://sailseer.com/mcp. No Sailseer account is needed.

How do I connect Sailseer to ChatGPT?

In ChatGPT, open the apps in the settings, search for Sailseer and connect it; ChatGPT also suggests the app during a conversation. In developer mode you can add Sailseer yourself: address https://sailseer.com/mcp, no authentication.

How should I ask?

With start, destination and time, ideally with the boat:

• "When is the best time this week to sail from Kiel to Marstal? We have a 34 ft yacht with 1.9 m draft."
• "Plan a charter week from Split with at most 20 nautical miles a day."
• "When is high water in Cuxhaven tomorrow?"
• "What do I need to enter Greece by boat coming from Turkey?"

What data does Sailseer receive?

Only what the request contains: harbours or positions, departure, boat and language. No chat history, no name and no account. Sailseer only counts how often each function is used, as a daily total. More in the privacy policy.
