Clearing in: Independent state with Carriacou and Petite Martinique, outside the EU and Schengen. According to the tourism authority, clear in only at Port Louis Marina (St. George's) and Tyrrel Bay (Carriacou); Noonsite also lists Prickly Bay (check before the trip). Clearing out is also possible at Prickly Bay, Hillsborough, St. David's (Grenada Marine), Le Phare Bleu and Grenville. Hours Monday to Friday 8:00 to 16:00, weekends and public holidays 9:00 to 14:00, arrive by 15:00. Bring: three crew lists, immigration cards, declaration of stores and health, port clearance from the last port, passports. Advance notice via SailClear, and for every person the online entry and customs form from 72 hours before arrival. The monthly cruising permit covers the whole state; whether you must clear again between Grenada and Carriacou is not documented.

Ausreise: Clear out at a port of entry before departure (port clearance): the next state asks for the certificate on clearing in.

Documents: Passport valid for six months beyond the trip; Germans need no visa, usually four weeks are stamped on entry, extensions at the immigration office. Boat papers, insurance, crew lists. Weapons including flare pistols only with an import permit; pets with a permit, microchip and rabies vaccination.

Fees: Cruising permit per month by length (according to sailors): up to 40 ft EC$ 50, up to 60 ft EC$ 75, up to 80 ft EC$ 100, above EC$ 150; cruise levy EC$ 8.10 per person except the skipper; aids to navigation per entry EC$ 30 to 55, port clearance document EC$ 15. Nature: In the marine protected areas (Molinere-Beauséjour, Sandy Island and Oyster Bed near Carriacou) use the moorings, do not anchor; spearfishing is prohibited for non-residents.

Tropical storm season: 1 June to 30 November, peak August to October. Many yachts spend the season here: whether Grenada (south coast 12.0 N) lies in your insurer's hurricane zone depends on the policy (limits between 10°50' and 12°40' N). Shelters according to sailors: Clarkes Court Bay, Egmont Harbour, Hog Island, Mount Hartman Bay, Tyrrel Bay (mangroves).

Emergency: Grenada Coast Guard (MRSC Grenada) +1 473 444 1931, VHF channel 16 and DSC; which higher-level rescue coordination centre is responsible (probably Trinidad and Tobago) is not settled.
