Clearing in: French overseas collectivity outside the EU, the EU customs territory and the Schengen area, with its own entry rules. Foreign yachts go to the customs quay in Saint-Pierre (Quai Mimosa) or in Miquelon flying the yellow flag and announce their arrival to customs (Saint-Pierre +508 55 47 30, Miquelon +508 55 64 39). Everyone stays aboard for one hour; if customs has not come by then, you may go ashore. Tropical storm season: 1 June to 30 November as in Newfoundland; tropical storms usually reach the islands already post-tropical, with gale, heavy seas and heavy rain.

Emergency: 112 or 18; at sea VHF channel 16, sea rescue is coordinated by JRCC Halifax (+1 800 565 1582).
