Rules on the lake

Lake Balaton: Combustion engines on small craft are prohibited in principle on the whole lake (exceptions for authorities, club safety boats and with a permit). Sailing boats may only use their auxiliary engine within the 300 m zone of harbours to enter and leave, on the ferry line between Tihany and Szántód with 300 m on either side, during a storm warning, in emergencies and in a dead calm to reach the nearest harbour; purely electric boats may operate freely.
